Taking notes from the book
Today in class we just quietly took notes from the new chapter The Rise of Christianity.
The living and teaching of Jesus
- Judea was ruled by the Romans when Jesus was born. It was around 4-6 BC and Jesus was born in Bethlehem. He was raised in Nazareth and baptized by John the Baptist.
-He started His public ministry around 30. He performed miracles and preached his messages from God.
A Growing Movement
- There are barely and historical records about Jesus so people know him mostly from the Gospels. His fame spread fast across the towns and people are attracted to him for his preaching.
Jesus' death
- The Roman and Jewish authorities are concerned about Jesus, so they denied Jesus' teaching and charged him of blasphemy. Jesus was crucified . But then He resurrected and was known as the Messiah.
Christianity Spread Through the Empires
- The followers of Jesus carried on his messages.
Paul's Mission
- Paul opposed Christianity at first, but during his trip to Syria, he reportedly had the vision of Jesus, thus he started to spread and interpret Jesus' teaching.
- The pax Romana made his trip safe and easier to spread the messages.
- He wrote the Epistles, which shows Jesus is the Son of God who died fro people's sins.
Jewish Rebellion
- A band of Jesus rebel against Rome. But then Rome fought back and destroyed all Temples in Jerusalem, only a wall remind.
