Today in class we took note from the book.
The Roman Republic
Rome was founded in 753BC. by men for strategic location and fertile land. Rome was built on rolling hills at the curve on the Tiber River in the Italy peninsula. The First Roman settlers arrived at Rome in prehistoric time. From 1000 to 500 BC, Latins, Greeks, and Etruscans fought for the land. The Latins finally built the settlement on the Palatine Hill and became the first Romans. The Roman civilization was strongly influenced by Greek and Etruscan culture. Around 600BC., an Etruscan became the first king of Rome. Rome grew from villages on hills to a city. The Romans constructed public centers like Forum. The last king of Rome was Tarquin the Proud, he was a harsh tyrant. The Romans did not want to have a king.
